Job Description

We are a busy, growing optometric practice in Massachusetts seeking an experienced Licensed Optician to join our team full-time. This position is ideal for someone who is confident, highly organized, and ready to step into a leadership role with the mindset of becoming our Optical Manager.

Our office is in strong need of experienced optical support, so we are looking for someone who can jump in, take ownership, and help bring structure, confidence, and leadership to the optical side of the practice.

The right candidate must have strong optical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work directly with patients to help them select eyewear and lens options that best fit their needs
  • Accurately take measurements and place optical orders
  • Handle adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting, and remakes
  • Use lab equipment and edging equipment confidently
  • Manage and process insurance benefits, authorizations, and billing
  • Support daily optical operations and help keep the department organized
  • Assist with inventory, frame boards, ordering, and vendor communication
  • Work closely with doctors, staff, and patients to keep the office running smoothly
  • Help lead the optical team with a manager-level mindset

Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed optician in Massachusetts
  • Strong lab experience required
  • Strong edging experience required
  • Must be confident with optical insurance, as we are a heavy insurance-based practice
  • Must be able to multitask and stay calm under pressure
  • Must be dependable, professional, and team-oriented
  • Must have strong communication and customer service skills
  • Must be comfortable working in a busy office environment
  • Prior management or leadership experience is a plus
